First ever CarFest concludes

First ever CarFest concludesThe first ever CarFest, a car and music festival with which well-known broadcaster Chris Evans has ventured into the world of motoring festivals, concluded on Sunday, with a stunning display of cars.

The CarFest, which began on Saturday, was held at Laverstoke Park Farm, Overton, on an estate which is owned by Jody Scheckter – a former Formula 1 champion.

The family-friendly festival was the brainchild of Evans, and the event was essentially kicked off with the objective of celebrating the world of motoring, on almost the same lines as the Goodwood Festival of Speed which is held every year.

The CarFest witnessed the presence of nearly 15,000 motorheads; with the leading car manufacturers of the world – including Kia, Peugeot, Jaguar and Land Rover – participating in the festival to show off their vehicles.

Along with a horde of cars on display, the festival also included a live car chase which involved a Ford Focus and Jaguar XFR. The car chase was a mock-up of a chase sequence which has been filmed in the forthcoming movie The Sweeny, starring Ray Winstone and Ben Drew.

Meanwhile, with the organisers describing the CarFest as "a decidedly family-friendly show for car-lovers," a spokesman said: "Evans has also expressed a desire for a practical and affordable classic car element to be included, giving the event an 'every enthusiast' appeal.
