Gagan grabs gold medal in CWSC

Gagan-NarangIndia Team has started its campaign with a gold medal in the Common Wealth Shooting Championship (CWSC) as Gagan Narang and PT Raghunath finished at the first position in the 10m air rifle pair event on Friday. Gagan carded 599 points out of 600 while Raghunath scored 594 to lead India to their first gold medal on the opening day of the tournament at the Tughlakabad Range in New Delhi.

Indian pair scored a total of 1193 followed by England with 1185 points while Bangladesh bagged bronze medal.

Gagan was brilliant throughout the match as he scored only one shot of 9 while all other 59 shots went for full 10 points to set a new event record. Rifle coach Stanislav Lapidus said that Gagan is an excellent player and he has always performed well in difficult situations.

Meanwhile, Sayyed and Annuraj Singh have won gold medal in the 25m pistol women pair event while Bapu Vanzare and Viraj Singh bagged silver medal in 50m pistol. Lajja Gauswami and Tejaswini Sawant won bronze medal in the 50m rifle 3 positions.
