Pak squash great Jansher Khan to make a comeback in London

London, Sept 19 : Former squash world champion Jansher Khan of Pakistan, who retired in 1998, is all set to make a comeback when he competes in the inaugural London Open at the Cumberland Club here next month.

One of the greatest squash players of all-time, 38-year-old Jansher will make his first international appearance since winning the last of his 99 Professional Squash Association (PSA) Tour titles in 1998.

Pakistan to play in Champions Trophy: PHF

Lahore, Sept 19: The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has confirmed its team’s participation in the Champions Trophy after reports were making the rounds that it may skip the tournament as it has been shifted from Pakistan on security grounds.

PHF Secretary Khalid Mahmood has said that Pakistan would take part in the tournament despite the International Hockey Federation’s (FIH) decision to hold it in some other country.

Sunfeast Open begins in Kolkata

Kolkata, Sept. 18: The seven-day WTA Sunfeast Open tennis tournament has begun, and will see the likes of Wimbledon finalist Marion Bartoli and Russian Daniela Hantuchova.

On Monday, Sania engaged in some match practice, but an announcement was made that she would not participate in the tournament due to a wrist injury.

West Bengal Urban Development Minister Ashok Bhattacharya inaugurated the tournament at the Netaji Indoor Stadium.

Tennis stars taken for a ride on horse carriages in City of Joy

Kolkata, Sept 17: Tennis players from across the globe, who are in the City of Joy--Kolkata to take part in the WTA Sunfeast Open, were treated to a unique experience on Sunday as they were taken on a ride in horse carriages.

The carriages took the players on a ride around the landmark Victoria Memorial as hordes of curious onlookers glanced at them.

BCCI launches its own ‘premier’ T20 league

New Delhi, Sept 13: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today launched its own cash-rich domestic and international Twenty20 league with the support of top Test playing nations.

BCCI vice president Lalit Modi here announced the setting of the Indian Premier League in the presence of top representatives of several Test playing nations and the International Cricket Council (ICC).
