Sydney, Oct 25: In his new book to be released next week, former Australian wicket keeper has elaborated on his loveless relationship with his former teammate Shane Warne, saying he was “hurt” at being called an "a . . . licker" by the legendary spinner.
The incident happened in a Sheffield Shield match in the late 1990s when Warne mercilessly sledged the wicketkeeper in an incident, which Gilchrist has never forgotten.
Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) ended national team coach Geoff Lawson's contract with a three months' pay as compensation. The board’s CEO Shafqat Naghmi has also been replaced by Saleem Altaf.
Speaking to the media persons here, PCB spokesman Raza Rashid said, “Geoff Lawson has been removed as coach of Pakistan.”
The former pace bowler from Australia was hired after the former Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer was found dead during the 2007 World Cup in West Indies. Lawson’s two year contract was due to end in 2009.
Sydney - The Australian Rugby League players will wear black armbands at Sunday's World Cup match against New Zealand as a mark of respect for the uncle of Johnathan Thurston, who died after being assaulted in a Brisbane park on Saturday.
Rugby league player Thurston's uncle, 38-year-old Richard Saunders, was one of three persons attacked at Ewing Park in Brisbane's southern suburb of Woodridge on Saturday, reports Australian Associated Press news agency.

After Adam Gilchrist's remarks over Sachin Tendulkar's honesty on the famous ''Monkeygate'' issue provoked angry reactions from Indian cricketing fraternity, the Indian batting maestro said the Australian called him up to clarify the whole issue and added that the matter was blown out of proportion.
Speaking with Times Now, Tendulkar said, “Gilchrist called me up and clarified the whole matter.”
“He said his comments have been taken out of context,” added Tendulkar. However, the master-blaster batsman refused to comment any further on the issue.
