AIBA Postpones The World Boxing Championship

World Boxing ChampionshipNew Delhi: The World Boxing Championship has been delayed by a week to October 23 because of various obligatory reasons. The championship that was primitively planned from October 17 to November 1 will now be held from October 23 to November 3 in Chicago, USA.

England Defeats India By 104 Runs

England Vs IndiaSouthampton: England shot down India by 104 runs with maiden centuries from Cook and Bell and a four-wicket haul from fast bowler Anderson at the Rose Bowl in the first of seven limited overs internationals.

England set a target of 289 runs for Indian team to win after being sent to bat first, but India could make only 184 runs.

Sania Mirza Placed 29th In WTA Standings

Sania MirzaNew Delhi: At the East West Bank Classic contest, Sania Mirza’s upset win over former world No.1 Martina Hingis assisted her climbing a step to attain her new career high WTA ranking. Now Sania is rested at 29th spot with 915 points.

In doubles, she also lifted one place to 25th with 1321 points.

Rohan Bopanna Wins ‘Challenger Title’

Rohan BopannaNew Delhi: Rohan Bopanna got the singles title in assisting himself to a double crown in the $50,000 Shelbourne Irish Open Challenger tennis tournament at Dublin.

Bopanna sealed his maiden Challenger singles name with a 6-4, 6-3 verdict over qualifier Martin Pedersen of Denmark in the final.

Previously, Bopanna won the doubles title partnering Adam Feeney of Australia.

Indian Cricket Odyssey Begins: Team India Leaves For UK

Steered by Skipper Rahul Dravid, the 15-member Indian squad left for London en route to Ireland for an 80-day cricket Odyssey early this morning.
The Team India is scheduled to play 4 ODIs in Ireland. The Maiden match will be played against the hosts on June 23 followed by 3 ODI clashes with South Africa.
On July 3, the Team India will cruise to Scotland to battle out with Pakistan in a one-off ODI clash at Glasgow. The proceeds of this match will go to the Prince Charles Charitable Trust.
Dravid’s Team will then move to take on England in a 3-Test series and 7 ODIs.
