German accused of possessing, trafficking marijuana in Uganda Kampala  - A German national has been arrested in Uganda on suspicion of possessing and trafficking marijuana, police said Saturday.

The 47-year-old man, who runs a holiday camping site on an island near the western shores of Lake Victoria, was arrested on Thursday.

Police suspect he was supplying marijuana seeds to fishermen, the southern region police spokesman, Noah Sserunjogi, told the German Press Agency dpa.

The man was also accused of exporting the narcotics to Germany, was charged with possession of an unknown amount of marijuana. He was released on a court bond after pleading not-guilty.

Sserunjogi said could receive a maximum of one year in prison. (dpa)
