Goodwood organizers bar Nissan’s backward drive plan
The organizers of the ongoing Goodwood Festival of Speed has asked Nissan not to attempt to drive one of its jalopies up the famous ‘Hill Climb’ track backwards.
Nissan has already sent a stuntman in one its models on two wheels but the organizers did not allow plans for a backward drive on safety grounds. The company was planning to remove limiters from the car's reverse gear and allow it to go as fast as it can go forward.
The Nissan LEAF model can attain a top speed of 90mph.
Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton appeared amid enthusiastic fans at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Hamilton went up the famous hillclimb course in two McLaren models; the first which he drove to the victory in the world championship in 2008 and other was John Watson’s 1984 model.
Nico Rosberg, Vitaly Petrov, Karun Chandhok and Ayrton Senna’s nephew Bruno Senna, plus ace Red Bull designer Adrian Newey are all going to be present at the event, giving a rare chance to F1 fans to see their starts. Former drivers including Damon Hill, Nigel Mansell, Sir Stirling Moss and Emerson Fittipaldi will also be there to add to the excitement at the event.
