Google teams up with Best Buy Mobile to co-market Google Mobile AppA recently-announced retail partnership between Google and Best Buy Mobile will facilitate the distribution of the Google Mobile App on smartphones sold in-store at Best Buy’s mobile specialty retail division.

The ‘Google-Best Buy Mobile’ team-up will make US’ leading electronics retailer the first company to co-market the Google Mobile App - an app that enables users to search Google from their mobile phones - to prospective consumers.

Under the latest deal with Google, Best Buy will pitch for the Google Mobile App by way of offering live demonstrations. In addition, the employees at Best Buy will help the customers in downloading the software and installing it on all compatible smartphones, like BlackBerry, Windows Mobile and S60 devices. Best Buy will offer the Google Mobile App as well as its installation service ‘free’ to the customers.

Commenting on the partnership with Google, Scott Moore - Vice President of marketing for Best Buy Mobile - said in a statement: “We know that consumers want smart phones and, increasingly, they want to use applications. The challenge is that people still need help understanding what is available to them and how they can bring it to life on their device.”

Moore further added that the retailer’s partnership with Google “will go a long way in bringing applications to more consumers, regardless of what device, carrier, or platform they use.”
