Gujarat’s eco-friendly Oreva motorbike to reach other States very soon

Ajanta LimitedRajkot (Gujarat), Oct. 27 : Oreva, an eco-friendly motorbike, which has been indigenously designed and manufactured by a Morbi-based Ajanta Limited Co. of Gujarat, is all set to hit the roads in its neighbouring States here.

The company apart from Gujarat has targetted its e-bikes for the States of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Rajasthan.

According to the manufacturers, their trendy looking and battery powered Oreva is the cheapest two-wheeler available in the e-bike segment. The motorbike is battery powered.

"As compared to other bikes available in the market, we are heading in quality and price. At present, we can say that we are leading the market and around 40 per cent market share is with us," said Rakesh Nathwani, National Market head, Oreva Ajanta Limited.

Ajanta Limited produces 300 Oreva bikes per day. It has set up a plant at Samkhiyari Kutch and the figure may increase to 1000 bikes per day in the next six months.

Unlike the other e-bikes of Gujarat that are assembled from the imported Chinese kits, assembled at Diu and later sold under different model and brand names, Oreva is an indigenous two-wheeler.

Ajanta Limited has set up an in-house production plant to manufacture nearly 85 per cent of all auto components that go into the making of an Oreva.

"We are going to start our production in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan in the next few weeks. Our bikes would be available there also. It would be available across the country in a phased manner. We will distribute it in the whole country and also open its service centres," said Jayeshbhai Seth, Director of the Ajanta Limited.

The average monthly sale of e-bikes of various models is about 700 in Rajkot alone and this touches the peak during festivals like Navaratri and Diwali.

Over 300 e-bikes were sold around Dussera festival.

"I was the first customer of Oreva e-bike and I have been driving it for the last seven months while going to college. It''s very comfortable," said Puja, one user of the Oreva e-bike in Rajkot.

There are many who believe in purchasing something on festival days.

However, management of Ajanta Limited voiced its concern seeking adequate financial support in the form of soft loans and leasing of machinery for the plant/

Jaysukhbhai Patel, Managing Director of Ajanta Limited also mentioned that despite these odds, the e-bike segment has tremendous potential. He said that leading two-wheelers makers like TVS, Yo Bike and Ultra Hero have come up with their models and soon to follow are Bajaj and Kinetic.

Jausukhbhai further noted that Oreva, which is presently priced rupees 25,000, could come out with a varied version costing rupees 17,000 once the overall production increases. (ANI)
