Haryana Software Exports Surge 17% In 2008-09

software exportsIn spite of worldwide slump, software exports from Haryana rose 17% during the last fiscal (2008-09).

The total software exports from the state stood at Rs 21,000 crore (Rs 210 billion/$4.5 billion) as against last year's figure of Rs 18,500 crore.

Gurgaon contributed the most to the yield of IT as well as Information Technology Enabled Services (ITES) industry in the state as over 90% of the units are situated in the district.

Mr. Rajendra Kataria, Deputy Commissioner of Gurgaon said, "This year (2009-10) also the Nasscom-Mckinsey report has projected a growth of 11-12 percent in IT &ITES exports. The exact figures are expected by June."

Gurgaon is fast emerging as an information technology hub and there are around 400 IT and ITES firms operating there.

The state administration has launched a regional industry promotion office there to strengthen the information technology industry.

Authorities are anticipating that the construction of the Qutub Minar-Gurgaon Metro Corridor would assist IT & ITES firms in the district. (With Input from Agencies)
