Swine flu claims 47 lives in PunjabChandigarh: Swine flu has claimed 47 lives in Punjab so far this year, an official said here Tuesday.

As many as 47 people succumbed to H1N1 virus in Punjab, an official spokesperson of Punjab Health department said here.

The number of positive cases has reached 217 while the suspected number of patients are 526, he said.

Out of total 11 samples, one patient from Jalandhar was found positive for the virus, he said.

Four new cases of swine flu in Punjab

Swine fluJalandhar: Four more persons have been found infected with swine flu virus in Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Patiala districts, taking the total number of affected people in the state to 216.

Till now, total number of deaths due to H1N1 virus has been recorded at 47 in the state.

Today, four persons have been found positive for swine flu. Of these, two were from Patiala while one each from Jalandhar and Ludhiana, according to State Health Department officials.

The health department said Thursday that the "Atlas of Cancer" will be readied to know the actual incidence of the disease in Punjab and take steps to combat it.
