Hepatitis B worries North GujaratLast year, Hepatitis B has finished 73 lives in north Gujarat, particularly in Modassa town and this year illol village, 6 km away from Himmatnagar reported 12 cases of Hepatitis B virus.

Till date, Gujarat government has acknowledged over 30 cases with symptoms of this disease and 12 of these were confirmed to be infected by hepatitis B virus, as reported by Chief district health officer SK Makhwana of Sabarkantha.

Makhwana said that this disease has made its way in a very short span of time, i. e. within 15 days and regardless of intensive survey conducted, we cannot succeed in investigating the accurate reason for the spread of this disease. He analyzed that persons falling in the age group of 20 to 35 years are more witnessing the symptoms of this disease.

Makhwana said that illol is small Muslim town with a population of 10,000 persons and reports show that previously level of Serum Glucose Phosphate Tri-aminase (SGPT) in 6 persons rise up to 4,000, which is an alarming aspect of this disease but now SGPT level has come down with proper treatment and until now, no casualty is reported.
