HMSI to invest Rs. 500 crore by 2011
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI), a part of Japanese automaker Honda Motor Corporation recently said that the company will be investing a whopping amount of Rs. 500 crore in its second unit at Alwar by the end of next year.
Moreover, HMSI President and CEO, Shinji Aoyama said that the plant will have a capacity of producing six lakh units on an annual basis and will be operational by the second half of 2011.
The new plant will surely help the company in catering to the consumer in a big way as it has been lagging in its deliveries as most of its products are running on a waiting period due to insufficient supply.
The second plant will be focusing on scooters to further strengthen its presence in the segment. The company also said that it will be launching the VRF 1200 in the Indian market soon that will be priced higher than the CB 1000RR model, which costs Rs 12.5 lakh to the Indian consumer.
HMSI regional manager, A K Vaish revealed that the company has sold more than 100 units of super bikes so far in the Indian market.
