Honda’s loss, competitors gain
While HMSI has been facing supply problems for a very long time now in the domestic circuit, the competitors have been able to gain markets share. It is believed that companies like Mahindra Two-wheelers and Suzuki have been able to gain market share and on the other end, HMSI have been losing its market share for the past many months now.
It may be noted here that Honda's share of the 1.46 million scooter market dropped to 50.59% from 57% in fiscal 2009-10 and counterparts like Mahindra have gained 4.79% of the market and Suzuki currently holds more than 9% share of the market.
TVS Motors have also slipped marginally as far as the market share in the Indian two-wheeler market is concerned as the company stood at 20.47% from 20.86% in fiscal 2010.
However, HMSI believes that things will be normal soon as Naresh Rattan, vice-president of sales and marketing at Honda Motorcycle said that the company is putting in various measures to enhance productivity. Moreover, Rattan also mentioned that once the production at its Rajasthan facility starts, the problems will meet its solution.
