Hong Kong shares rebound from three-week low on positive US data

Hong Kong shares rebound from three-week low on positive US data Hong Kong  - Hong Kong shares rebounded from a three-week low Friday to climb more than 2 per cent on the back of positive economic news from the United States.

The blue-chip Hang Seng Index gained 487.88 points, or 2.29 per cent, to end the week at 21,752.87. Turnover was 76.3 billion Hong Kong dollars (9.84 billion US dollars).

Friday's gains followed three-consecutive days of losses, which saw shares slump to a three-week low Thursday.

The uplift was led by property and banking stocks and spurred by better than expected US growth data, which saw Wall Street rise strongly overnight. (dpa)
