IB Ministry suspends CBFC CEO

Prakash-Javadekar_New Delhi, Aug 20  : The Ministry of information and Broadcasting has suspended the chief executive officer of the Central Board of Film Certification, Rakesh Kumar , who was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly accepting a bribe.

Speaking to ANI exclusively, Prakash Javadekar, Minister for Information and Broadcasting, said corruption will not be tolerated, and hence, Kumar has been suspended.

"The corruption scam which has been unfolded by the anti-corruption bureau and the arrest of the CEO of the censor board. We have suspended the CEO and we will take strict action because corruption is absolutely unacceptable. We will not accept anything like this and therefore we will take strong action, we will make monitoring more stricter, processes more transparent," said Javadekar.

According to sources, The CEO of the Childrens Film Society of India (CFSI), Sharavan Kumar, will assume additional charge as CEO of CBFC.

Kumar was arrested in Mumbai on Tuesday for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 70,000 for clearing a regional movie.(ANI)
