India bags bronze medal in Asia Youth badminton tournamentThe Indian pair of Pranav Chopra and Prajakta Sawant settled with the bronze medal as they lost their semifinal match of the mixed double event in the Asia Youth badminton championship (U-19) against Lu Kai and Bao Yixin of China in Kuala Lumpur today.

Chopra-Sawant duo has been defeated by the pair of Lu Kai and Bao Yixin in the straight sets by 12-21, 15-21 in the semifinal match which lasted for just 20 minutes.

Chopra-Swant duo won the bronze medal which has been first ever medal won by any Indian badminton team or player in the U-19 Asia Youth badminton tournament.

Sawant said that although they played to their best but the Chinese duo outclassed them in the match and initially in the match there was close tough competition between them but after sometime the match slipped from their hands.

Earlier in the day, other Indians including Sikki Reddy, Saili Rane, Sumeeth Reddy and H S Prannoy lost their quarterfinal matches to crash out of the tournament.
