IndiGo airlines has gone in for a record deal with the airliner company Airbus early in the New Year as it decided to acquire 180 Airbus aircraft of the 320-neo series.

India's leading low cost carrier made this mind blowing deal with Airbus. This deal will be going down as the biggest in the Aviation sector and has taken everybody by surprise.

The delivery of the jets will be done in a span of 9 years from 2016 to 2025. IndiGo will now be the largest customer for the A320-neo jets.

Among the advantages of the jets are more efficient engines and large wing tip devices called Sharklets. These devices function for saving fuel and are capable of up to 15 percent savings.

The savings will be over 400,000 US gallon of fuel and up to 3,600 tonnes of CO2 annually per aircraft. IndiGo will be paying whooping $15.6 billion for these new jets as they will add to the fleet of its existing aircrafts. The company currently has 420 aircrafts in operation.
