Injured players included in Spanish squad for Confederations Cup Madrid - Spanish national manager Vicente del Bosque has included several injured players in his squad for the upcoming Confederations Cup in South Africa.

The squad, announced on Monday, includes Barcelona trio Carles Puyol, Gerard Pique, Andres Iniesta and Valencia's David Silva, all of whom are currently out of action due to muscle injuries.

The only player out of the squad because of injury is Villarreal veteran Marcos Senna.

The squad is as follows:

GOALKEEPERS: Iker Casillas (Real Madrid), Jose Reina (Liverpool), Diego Lopez (Villarreal)

DEFENDERS: Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid), Alvaro Arbeloa (Liverpool), Carles Puyol (Barcelona), Carlos Marchena (Valencia), Raul Albiol (Valencia), Gerard Pique (Barcelona), Joan Capdevila (Villarreal)

MIDFIELDERS: Sergio Busquets (Barcelona), Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal), Xabi Alonso (Liverpool), Santi Cazorla (Villarreal), Andres Iniesta (Barcelona), Xavi (Barcelona), Albert Riera (Liverpool)

FORWARDS: Juan Mata (Valencia), David Silva (Valencia), David Villa (Valencia), Fernando Torres (Liverpool), Fernando Llorente (Athletic), Daniel Guiza (Fenerbahce)

These players will come together in Madrid on Thursday for medical checks and intensive training.

The European champions will play a friendly away to Azerbaijan on June 9, then make their debut in the Confederations Cup on June 14 against New Zealand. (dpa)
