IPL Telecast by YouTube to be Enhanced By Airtel with 2Mbps Speed Offer for Broadband Users

IPL Telecast by YouTube to be Enhanced By Airtel with 2Mbps Speed Offer for Broadband UsersAs the IPL "Season 3 fever" blankets the country full of cricket fans, Bharti Airtel, plans to amuse the broadband customers with an obsession of the game by offering them a faster and free access of YouTube's coverage of the IPL matches. The speed, particularly for this offer will be elevated to 2Mbps from 12th of March to 25th of April. Earlier YouTube had decided to avail the coverage from youtube. com/ipl. com.

But there are few restrictions; one is that this speed increase is only meant for www. youtube. com/ipl and no other internet usage is benefitted and the second is that it does not imply to unlimited data transfer. One more negative aspect is the match telecast with 5 minutes of delay which is nearly unacceptable at least for viewers who are hard core IPL fans.

The main aim of introducing this scheme is that Airtel intends to target an increase in sale of its 2Mbps plans. Youtube, this year won the official rights for telecasting live 45 days IPL matches and Airtel has been declared official broadband sponsor of Season 3 of IPL cricket 2010.

Airtel recently came up with a launch of social media game `Fastest Fifty', for predicting the match scores in Orkut in order to keeping people in touch with the "IPL mania" even if no match is going on.

Airtel has 1.24 million broadband users in 95 cities in India where the Airtel Broadband facility is available.
