Italy likely to be the first European country to Mahindra Quanto SUVMahindra's recently unveiled Quanto Compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) will hit European markets in the next 4-5 months, with Italy likely to be the first country to receive it.

Speaking to reporters, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) Chief Executive Pravin Shah said, "In the next four to five months, we are planning to start exports of the vehicle to Europe and Italy is likely to be the first destination."

Mahindra will start selling its XUV 500 in Spain from later this year and the Quanto will be the second model that the Indian auto giant is planning to launch in Europe.

The Mahindra Quanto will compete with the likes of the Renault Duster, which is also called the Dacia, in European markets.

The Mahindra Quanto, which is also called mini-Xylo, will be showed showcased at the Bologna Motor Show, which will tale place later this year.

M&M claims that the Quanto's 1.5 Liter, three-cylinder diesel engine is the world's smallest diesel motor to feature a twin turbocharger. It is M&M's first SUV that has received a twin turbo, diesel engine. It is also the world's first sub 4-meter SUV to offer seven seats.

In India, the C2 trim of the Quanto has been priced at Rs. 5.82 lakh, while the C4 and the top-end C8 trims are available for Rs. 6.35 lakh and Rs. 6.86 lakh respectively.
