ITC Leads Gainers In 'A' Group On BSE

India’s biggest ITC Ltd.cigarette maker, ITC zoomed 8.93% to Rs 165.85 and topped gainers in ‘A’ group shares on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). It gained on speculation that a noteworthy enhancement in cigarette sales may improve the company’s income this year. ITC will declare Q1 June 2007 results on 27 July 2007. The other performers of the day include Mastek, Pidilite Industries, Thermax, Housing Development and Infrastructure.

Mastek jumped 8% to Rs 305.15 and placed second among top gainers in ‘A’ group. Its net income rose 108.16% to Rs 102.54 crore in the year ended June 2007 as compared to the year ended June 2006. Sales arose 28.82% to Rs 498.19 crore in FY 2007.

Pidilite Industries came up 5.18% to Rs 146.20. It was third biggest performer in BSE’s A group shares today. Its net profit climbed up 53% to Rs 58 crore in Q1 June 2007. Total earnings jumped 28.61% to Rs 378.4 crore. The company announced its Q1 June 2007 results after market hours yesterday, 24 July 2007.

The fourth place goes to Thermax, which jumped 4.76% to Rs 630.30. The company’s net profit zoomed 103.37% to Rs 56.01 crore in Q1 June 2007 as against Q1 June 2006. Total income heaved 105.45% to Rs 676.3 crore in Q1 June 2007. The company revealed Q1 results in trading hours today.

Housing Development and Infrastructure (HDIL) rose 3.85% to Rs 580.10. It was fifth biggest gainer in BSE's A group shares. The HDIL scrip had debuted on bourses yesterday, 24 July 2007. On that day, it had ended at 12% premium at Rs 558.60 on BSE versus IPO price of Rs 500.
