Jaguar Land Rover sales grows 39% to 26,158 unitsUK-based Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), a unit of Tata Motors, has reported an increase of 39 per cent to 26,158 units in October 2011 compared to the same month in 2010.

The sales of Jaguar cars grew 63% to 5,231 units and that of Land Rover sport-utility vehicles increased 34% to 20,927 units in the same period. The commercial vehicle sales increased 6% to 43,184 units worldwide in he month f October.

The passenger car vehicle sales went up by 14 per cent to 52,605 units while global CV sales recorded an increase of 6 per cent to 43,184 units. The two premium brands were acquired by the Indian major for $ 2.3 billion from Ford.

The Jaguar Land Rover recorded a strong growth in the quarter due to the booming demand in the Chinese and other markets. The brand gained through the launch of its new Range Rover Evoque and a new version of the Jaguar XF.

Meanwhile India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer reported a 15.32 per cent fall in consolidated net profit of Rs 1,880 crore in the second quarter of the financial year compared to Rs 2,220 crore in the corresponding quarter of previous fiscal. The fall was mainly due to a foreign exchange loss of Rs 440 crore compared to a gain of Rs 130 crore.

The net sales of the company increased 27% to Rs 35,940 crore from Rs 28,310 crore. The EBITDA margin grew at 7.2% in the quarter.
