Javadekar criticises opposition for disrupting Parliament

Javadekar criticises oppositionNew Delhi, Dec 4 : Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar on Thursday criticised the opposition for disrupting proceedings in the Parliament, terming it a 'wastage of public money'.

"The opposition parties are protesting on a non-issue. The statements by Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti were bad and she apologized for it. She took it back, regretted it and even the Prime Minister came in the House and explained the government's stand on it in unequivocal terms. The Prime Minister has stated that these kinds of remarks are unacceptable," Javadekar told the media here.

"Their continuation means that the opposition is bereft of issues and they want to play up this thread. Disrupting the session in the Parliament is wasting public money. It is very unfortunate for democracy and should be condemned," he added.

On Monday, Minister of State for Food Processing Industries Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti made certain controversial remarks during a rally in the national capital, which led to uproar in both Houses of the Parliament, with the opposition calling for her resignation from the Union Cabinet. Jyoti has since apologised for her statements. (ANI)
