Mohammad Kaif and Suresh Raina have scored unbeaten half centuries for the Central Zone against the East Zone on the first day of the test match in Duleep Trophy at Gandhi Sports Complex Ground in Amritsar on Tuesday.

East Zone skipper S Tiwari won the toss and opted to field first. Central Zone got to a bad start as their both openers returned to pavilion without scoring even a single run. Central zone openers T Srivastva and J Saxena both scored ducks.

Sanjay Bangar (3) was the third batsman to get out with only 9 runs on the board. Central zone was looking in great trouble when Raina and Kaif scored unbeaten 83 and 65 runs respectively. Kaif and Raina added together 141 runs for the third wicket as Central Zone scored 150 runs for loss of 3 wickets in the first inning at the close of play on first day.

A Dinda was most successful bowler for East zone who took two wickets while R Bose chipped in with one crucial wicket of Srivastava in first over of the inning.
