Union Human Resource and Development (HRD) Minister Kapil Sibal has asked the Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) to continue with the current fees.

The prestigious business study institutions of India have been asked not to hike any fees further. Sibal has said that the fee for the IIMs' Post-Graduate Management Program is going to hurt the students coming from middle class families.

Mr. Sibal has said this while discussing with the Chairman of the board of directors of the nine IIMs. He has also revealed that the government is thinking seriously to adopt some superior strategy to improve the governance and quality of IIMs. Earlier the fee was hiked after the IIMs raised the intake. Due to implementation of the Other Backward Class (OBC) quota the annual intake of IIMs has also gone up.

Sibal has suggested that the IIMs should concentrate of sourcing money from outside rather then going for fee hike. It may collect money from the alumni who have passed out from this premier organization. Apart from that, business community or industry can be another media of sourcing money.
