Land Rover’s diesel hybrid SUV to debut by 2013While the testing for the product will begin by the year-end, Land Rover recently said that its first diesel hybrid sports utility vehicle will hit the roads by 2013. Code name 'range_e' the Tata-owned Land Rover said in a statement that the use of hybrid technology will play a significant role in the coming times and the Land Rover Diesel with the hybrid technology will be available by 2012 and will be seen on the roads by the year 2013.

While the company is targeting less emission i. e. less than 100 grams of CO2 emissions for every kilometre, the Tata's are targeting 20 miles using electric power with a top speed of about 120 miles per hour from the product. However, the company hasn't lost its focus on the core strength as it also plan to launch a new compact variant of its premium SUV Range Rover by the year 2011 that will be available with the 2-wheel drive (2WD) option. But the company has earmarked 800 million pounds for the development of the environment friendly vehicles to show its commitment to the environment.
