Doctor involved in flesh trade racket arrested

Lucknow, Dec 1 : A doctor who was allegedly involved in abducting girls and forcing them into prostitution has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh. A teenager who was recently kidnapped by the doctor was also rescued from his hospital, police said Tuesday.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team of Uttar Pradesh's Kaushambi district, some 300 km from Lucknow, raided a private hospital in Allahabad district Monday night. They rescued the 17-year-old girl, who was abducted Nov 19 from her native village in Kaushambi.

Sugarcane farmers hold demonstrations in Lucknow

Lucknow, Dec 1 - Armed with sugarcane stems, thousands of farmers from various parts of Uttar Pradesh arrived here in jam-packed trains to demonstrate against the sugarcane pricing policy of the state government.

Led by Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) chief Mahendra Singh Tikait, farmers demanded that the state government must hold talks with them so they get an appropriate price for their produce.

"I just know that someone, senior officials or ministers should invite us for the talks to solve our problems," BKU president Tikait told reporters here at the Charbagh railway station.

CBI to probe fake currency racket in Uttar Pradesh

Fake Indian CurrencyLucknow, Aug 10: The Uttar Pradesh Government has handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) a probe related to a fake currency racket emanating from the State Bank of India's (SBI) Dumariyaganj branch in Siddharthnagar near Lucknow.

The racket was busted after one Abid, a resident of Sidharthnagar was arrested and Rs. 5 lakh in Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) was recovered from him.

Former UP minister Nishad charged with murder, arrested

Lucknow, June 10 : The Uttar Pradesh Fisheries Minister Jamuna Nishad has been arrested here today on charges of the murder of a police constable during a violent clash involving his supporters in Maharajganj.

The incident took place on Saturday night, when angry supporters of the Minister ransacked the Kotwali police station in Maharajganj, demanding action against an SHO for "shielding" an accused in the alleged rape of a girl of the Nishad Dalit community.
