Marilyn Monroe dress on display is ‘fake’
Washington, Oct 9 : A white dress supposedly worn by screen siren Marilyn Monroe has been exposed as fake at a museum in England.
The dress was worn by the late star in the film ‘The Seven Year Itch’ and is one among the costumes that have been exhibited in Brighton at an event called ‘The Lost Dresses of Marilyn Monroe’.
However Monroe expert Mark Bellinghaus said that the dresses look brand new, and that they were never worn by Monroe.
“These dresses were never worn by Marilyn Monroe as advertised. Looking at what Monroe wore versus the pictures, they are not one and the same. The copies in no way resemble what was worn by Monroe. They look brand new. They are fooling the public,” Contactmusic quoted him, as saying.
But, a spokesman for the exhibition has insisted that the dresses are original.
"They are not fakes. For the films, there was always more than one copy made but they were actually worn by Marilyn,’ the spokesperson said. (ANI)
