Mohamed Osman, 78, wed 70-year-old Sawiyah Awang on Sunday in a joint ceremony with his 35-year-old son and a 28-year-old grandson, the New Straits Times daily said.

Osman, whose first wife died six months ago, is the oldest man in the village.

He said he had agreed to get married only after his children persuaded him to find a companion. Osman has eight children, 26 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

The report said all three marriages were a result of match-making services, which is still popular in smaller towns in the mainly Muslim country. (dpa)
