Bonn  - A man who assaulted women and then ran off with their shoes has been arrested in Germany, police said Sunday.

Police said a tip-off led them to the 27-year-old, who was detained in his car near Bonn on Saturday.

The man is suspected of having robbed a total of nine women of their high heels in a series of attacks in Bonn and the nearby cities of Cologne and Leverkusen.

In most of the cases, the man sneaked up on his victims from behind, pushed them to the ground and made off with their shoes. (dpa)
