Marilyn Monroe's brassiere, stockings to be auctioned in London

Marilyn Monroe's brassiere, stockings to be auctioned in London London - A brassiere and a pair of stockings belonging to the late film icon Marilyn Monroe are set to go on auction this weekend in London, auctioneer Richard Davie of Nottingham-based International Autograph Auctions said Thursday.

The items, which include a bra believed to have been worn by Monroe in the late 1950s, are expected to fetch several thousand dollars in Saturday's auction at the Radisson Edwardian Hotel, Heathrow.

"To own something like a bra from such a sex symbol is quite an exciting thing for any Marilyn Monroe enthusiast," said Davie.

He stated that bids on the size-9M Christian Dior stockings, still with their original paper wrapping, are expected to go as high as 1,500 pounds (2456 dollars) and the bra up to 2,000 pounds.(dpa)
