Maruti Suzuki looking at doubling its production capacity

Maruti-SuzukiWhile the high competition from players like Hyundai Motors India, Volkswagen, Ford, GM etc. may have questioned the viability of Maruti retaining its leadership but the company is quite certain of the fact that it has bullish plans for the market in the times to come.

In fact, the market leader Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. is aiming to double its annual production capacity taking it up to two million vehicles in the next six years to help the country's biggest car maker by sales retain leadership amidst a stiffer competition.

According to the Chairman of the company, R. C. Bhargava, the company ahs asked its suppliers to double their output capacity so that they can move in line with the future plans of the company.

At a meeting with auto parts suppliers in Hong Kong last week, Bhargava said that the company is looking at the option of boosting its capacity to maintain its hold on more than half of the fast-growing car and SUV sales in the country.

The Indian automotive market has grew by 14% on an average in the lat 15 years and even if it grows by 12% in the next six, it is believed that it will double the volumes that the automakers are enjoying today.
