Maruti & VW aim for joint development

Joerg MuellerWhile it has been just a few months that the German car major Volkswagen picked up a 20% stake in Suzuki Motor Corporation, but both the parties are expected to be in advance stages of discussion for synergy drive in various areas. In fact, many officials from both the parties have visited each other's units at numerous occasions to find out various areas where the duo can work together.

Joerg Mueller, chief representative of the VW group in India said that the company is still half-way of threshing out various areas where it can leverage from the resources of Maruti Suzuki in the Indian market. He even went on to confirm that various representatives from VW have visited global as well as Indian sites of Suzuki.

Volkswagen is still a relatively new player in the Indian market as compared to giants like Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai and the cooperation of Maruti in its growth is expected to be a big boon for the German auto major in the Indian market.

Notably, the Polo from VW has been accepted by the consumer with open arms and is currently facing a demand supply mismatch.
