Miandad and Akram turn down offer to coach Pakistan cricket teamJaved Miandad and Wasim Akram have both refused the offer from the Pakistan Cricket Board to become the coach of the Pakistan cricket team.

Miandad has cited family problems to not being able to take up the post offered to him by Ijaz Butt, chairman PCB. However, he said on Wednesday that is he is willing to couch for a short while.

He said that he is ready to work with both the senior and junior teams in a coaching position or as a consultant/advisor on short term basis but is not willing give up his role in the board. He wants to play a multi dimensional role in Pakistani cricket.

Miandad has recently told the senate committees on sports that the chairman is not assigning him roles according to his expertise. The committee tried to resolve the issues between the two by forming a sub committee.

After the effort butt offered him the couching assignment but Miandad said he also wants a role in the board.

As for Akram, he said that he does not have the time for the assignment. "I am busy with my commentary assignments until 2012, so I cannot accept the offer myself," he said.

On the issue of a foreign coach being appointed for the team, Miandad said that the decision will be taken by the board while Akram said that no foreign coach has interest in the team.

He said that Ijaz Ahmad has good experience from coaching the under 19 team in New Zealand which was termed as a well-behaved team.

Both Miandad and Akram have offered to coach the team only for a short term.
