Microsoft cuts price of its Surface RT tablets by $150Software giant, Microsoft has cut the price of its Surface RT tablets by $150 following a major restructuring at the company, in a move to revive sales of the tablet com[puter inte h highly competitive market.

The Surface RT is a light version of the company's tablet and runs on a limited version of Windows 8 operating system. The price of a 32GB tablet has been reduced from $499 to $349; the 64 GB model will not cost $599 compared to $449. The 32 GB model with a keyboard will be priced at $449 compared to $599 and the price of 64 GB model with a keyboard has been reduced from $699 to $549 in the US market.

The company has not reduced the price of its Surface Pro tablet that runs on the full version of Windows 8. Experts say that the motive of the price reduction is not known but it would be to clear inventory for the second generation version or simply to boost sales of the light version of the tablet computer in the market.

Microsoft said, "We've been seeing great success with pricing and cover promotions over the past several months on Surface RT in the U. S. and other markets. People who buy Surface love Surface, and we're excited about all those additional people out sharing their excitement for Surface with other people."
