M&M focuses to electric two-wheelers
After making its presence felt in the scooters segment, M&M two-wheelers has now decided to move towards the electric two-wheelers segment in order to generate future growth for the company.
Notably, after the recently acquired Reva, experts are of a view that the company also sources its electric technology in two-wheelers.
However, Anoop Mathur, President - Two-wheelers, M&M declined to comment on the market speculation but sources close to the company says that the company is running hard with a target to position itself as an important electric vehicle manufacturer in the country.
Moreover, post the takeover, it is clear that the company has both the expertise and know how of how the things are done in the electric space. It may be noted here that the conglomerate ventures into the two-wheelers segment by acquiring an 80% stake in the loss making two-wheeler company, Kinetic Motor Company in 2008.
Abdul Majeed, head of auto practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers, said the electric two-wheelers have the potential to outshine the growth of the electric four-wheelers in the Indian market. Majeed also added the fact that the electric two-wheelers will file a double digit growth in years to come.
