M&M to take its low-cost tractor to five more states

Pawan GoenkaThough, the low-cost tractor was being tested in Gujarat since its launch in October 2009, but the automotive arm of the conglomerate M&M has recently announced that the company will be taking the product to five more States this year.

In a situation where a normal tractors is priced at above the Rs. 3 lakh levels, Yuvraj 215, which is priced Rs 1.65 lakh surely show a lot of hope for the company to act as a major growth driver for its farm equipment sector division in the times to come.

Pawan Goenka, President, Automotive and Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra said that the company will be taking the product to places like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra by the end of this year. In fact, it is believed that the low-cost tractor will have a nation-wide roll out by early 2011.

With the Yuvraj, the company is aiming to convert the farmers into its consumers who still use bullocks and power tillers for farming. The 75 HP tractor with 1.5 tonne haulage capacity and 25 km/hour speed surely has it what it takes to become a hot property in the coming times.
