Monsoon is 6% below normal-Says IMD

monsoon-indiaThe India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that the monsoon is not up to its expected level till now. It has recorded around 6% less amount in rain so far this season.

The rain has been below average till now. This is due to two tropical cyclones which has affected the southwest monsoon badly. With the effect of the cyclone the rain fall has bee reduced.

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), there have been 31.1 millimeters in India till now in this month. They have taken 9 days for consideration i.e. from 1st of June to 9th of June.

The weather bureau has informed that there should be 33.1 millimeters of rain in this period of time. This amount would be considered as normal. But the actual rain fall has been 6% below this normal level.

The bureau has also informed that there have been two major tropical cyclones during this period of time. One is Laila and the other one is Phet. Both of them have affected the normal monsoon progress.
