MUV segment getting hot!
After the crowded small car segment, sedan segment and the premium sedan segment, perhaps the auto majors have now developed a love for the MUV segment in the Indian market.
In fact, players like the market leader Maruti Suzuki India, largest automaker Tata Motors and Volkswagen's Skoda Auto India plan to make their way into the Indian MPV segment.
For the record, the MUV segment is one of the fastest growing segments in the passenger vehicles category. It is to be mentioned here that Tata Motors will roll out its Tata Aria, developed from the Xover concept, which is expected to hit the market in the last quarter of 2010.
Moreover, players like Maruti Suzuki are also firming up plans to launch the RIII in the Indian market while Skoda has lined up the launch of Roomster to gain its share out of the lucrative pie.
Sandeep Singh, deputy MD (marketing) at Toyota Kirloskar Motors, maker of Innova crossover said that with the low cost and high benefit to the consumers, MUVs are surely catching the fancy of the Indian consumer.
