Washington, May 17 : Natalie Portman has denied reports of her romantic link-up with Sean Penn, insisting that the actor is `a friend and colleague'.

Several tabloid reports have claimed the two are an item after being seen together in a West Hollywood bar shortly after Penn, 48, filed for a legal separation from his wife of 13 years, Robin Wright Penn.

However, the 27-year-old actress is firmly denying rumours that the two are an item.

"Sean Penn is a friend and colleague," E! Online quoted her as telling Extra.

"The reports that we are romantically involved are completely untrue. I normally do not respond to rumours about my private life, however, this repeatedly fabricated story has forced me to do so," she added.

Portman parted ways with folk-rock singer Devendra Banhart last fall. (ANI)
