New Motorola handset will reportedly have edge-to-edge screen

New Motorola handset will reportedly have edge-to-edge screenAt its September 5 scheduled press conference in New York with Verizon Wireless, Google's May-acquired Motorola Mobility unit will reportedly unveil its new smartphone - apparently the next DROID - which, as per an `inside' source, will boast an edge-to-edge screen; thereby making it one of the first full-screen handsets in the US.

To be the most high-profile release for Motorola after its $12.5 billion acquisition by Google, the new full-screen handset will use its complete front portion as the screen, which probably will be a 4.3-inch qHD (960 x 540) Super AMOLED Advanced display.

As a result of the edge-to-edge approach for the display, the screen-viewing space of the new Motorola handset will be maximized because the black frames or bezels surrounding the screen will be done away with.

According to separately leaked details of the new DROID handset by Engadget, a reliable familiar with the smartphone has revealed that the device will feature a "fantastic" Snapdragon S4 processor and lithium polymer battery; and will work with Verizon's 4G LTE networks.

Going by the information shared by the Engadget source on the condition of anonymity, the new Motorola handset will run the Android OS 4.0 `Ice cream Sandwich' version. The device will have an 8-megapixel rear camera and a noteworthy 3-megapixel front camera; and will likely hit the markets later this year.
