Indian IT (information technology ) sector should feel relief as new telecom and IT minister Andimuthu Raja said that he would "fight for" the extension of tax sops to IT sector for another two years in the coming budget.

Telecom and IT Minister Mr. Raja said, for the second time, "I will fight for the extension of STPI scheme beyond March 2010. The scheme should be extended for at least another two years."

A Raja said on Monday that India has received proposals worth Rs 1,57,000 crore for setting up units under the semiconductor policy. Most proposals were from international major companies. He further added that he was confident that the semiconductor policy would catch more investments in the future.
