 Atletico set to offload veteran keepers Franco, CoupetMadrid  - Spanish football club Atletico Madrid are close to offloading veteran goalkeepers Leo Franco and Gregory Coupet, according to the websites of Marca and AS on Monday.

Franco, 32, is currently in Istanbul, undergoing medical checks prior to signing a two-year contract with Turkish club Galatasaray, who are now coached by Frank Rijkaard.

The Argentine international has been first-choice at Atletico since joining from Mallorca in 2004.

Meanwhile, Coupet, 36, is about to sign for French side Paris St Germain. Coupet has hardly played for Atletico since signing from Lyon a year ago.

Atletico, who finished fourth in La Liga for the second consecutive season, are planning to replace these veterans with the promising Sergio Asenjo, 19, from Valladolid.

According to Marca, another Atletico player who might be on his way to Galatasaray is defender John Heitinga.

Atletico are also keen to offload wingers Maxi Rodriguez - who has feuded with coach Abel Resino - and Jose Antonio Reyes, who was on loan to Benfica Lisbon last season.(dpa)
