MPs criticize Sach Ka Saamna as a show against “Indian culture”.
Due to cut throat competitions and in mad race to get highest TRPs, the TV channels are trying their best to present programs based on unique concept.
Recently Star Plus has started a new reality show Sach Ka Saamna. In the show the participants have to bare themselves to dark truths of their life in full public view and before their loved ones.
During zero hour, Samajwadi Party MP Kamal Akhtar raised concern about such programs which can go to any extent to earn high TRPs. He especially pointed at the reality show Sach Ka Saamna. He said that obscene questions are asked by the anchor of the programme.
Kamal Akhtar was supported by the BJP MPs SS Ahluwalia, Najma Heptullah, Prakash Javadekar and Shiv Sena's Sanjay Raut. BJP and SP MPs claimed that the show was against "Indian culture". The MPs demanded that show should be banned immediately.
Earlier, questions regarding another TV serials 'Balika Vadhu' on Colors were also raised. MP Sharad Yadav said that the show promoted child marriage by showing advantages of child marriage.
The show earned a huge popularity and sympathy of audience when known personalities like former India batsman Vinod Kambli and TV actress Urvashi Dholakia accepted bitter truths of life in the show.
Star Plus has been served a show-cause notice by the Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Ministry for the show.
