Green energy plants to get government subsidy

Farooq AbdullahChandigarh, Dec 16 : New and Renewable Energy Minister Farooq Abdullah said Wednesday the government will give subsidies to entrepreneurs interested in setting up power plants using renewable resources.

"We are ready to give subsidies to people in order to motivate them to establish power plants using renewable resources. We invite proposals from potential entrepreneurs, who are interested in this field," Abdullah told reporters.

He added: "We want them to send us proposals giving detailed information about their planning and working of the plant. On getting the approval we will surely provide full assistance to them."

Abdullah was here to participate in a conference on renewable energy resources.

He said that renewable energy resources were present in sufficient amount in northern India and in the next 10 years we would be able to make optimum use of them.

Talking about the attitude of developed countries towards climate change, Abdullah said: "Developed countries want only developing countries to cut out on their emissions and to take necessary steps to save our environment. But to achieve desired results, we require full support and cooperation of developed nations and everyone is hopeful of getting it."(IANS)
