Sena MLA claims he’s being threatened

Days after his police security was withdrawn, Shiv Sena legislator Ravindra Waikar has filed a police complaint saying he has been getting threatening calls.

Waikar, a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Jogeshwari, lost his security because he protested against Congress leader, Rahul Gandhi, during the latter’s Mumbai visit.

“I started getting threats the day after the government withdrew my security cover,” said Waikar.

“On February 12, at 4.30 pm my wife, who was at home, received call from a number 9007184666. The caller abused me and our leader Balasaheb [Thackeray].”

Waikar has registered a complaint with the MIDC police and has also written to Commissioner of Police D. Sivanandhan, demanding that his security be restored.

Last week, Waikar, who is also the Standing Committee chairman in the municipal corporation, MLA Bala Sawant and Member of Legislative Council, Anil Parab, had alleged that their police security guards were recalled because they protested against Gandhi’s visit.
