Maruti scaling up production by 70,000 units
The largest carmaker in the Indian market, Maruti Suzuki India may have attained a landmark of selling more than a million units in a fiscal year in the FY 2009-10, but that hasn't kept Maruti complacent for now. In fact, the company is even becoming bolder and smarter by the day.
With a view to match the level of the rising demand, the company has recently announced that it will scale up its production activities by around 70,000 units. It is believed that the company is trying to eliminate wasteful operations in the manufacturing plants and increase productivity levels of employees to produce these 70,000 units.
In fact, the company is expecting a growth of around 10-12% in the passenger car industry in the current fiscal, explained Maruti Suzuki's Managing Executive Officer (Engineering) I V Rao.
With the company being a frontrunner in the Indian market, it is expected that the company will need to produce another more than one lakh units to match the level of the growth of the industry.
Notably, the company is already working at more than 100% capacity and the capacity expansion in company's Manesar plant by another 2, 50,000 will be completed by 2012.
