TVS Two-wheeler sales post a 35% rise

TVS-MotorsThe Chennai based two-wheeler major TVS Motors has recently announced that the two-wheeler business has posted a 35% rise for the month of July 2010. The company said in a statement that it sold 163,106 two-wheelers in July compared with 120,944 two-wheelers in July last year.

While the domestic sales grew by 33% in the last month, increasing from 107,883 units in July last year to 143,039 last month, the exports segment zoomed by close to 54% as the company exported around 20,067 units, which is way up as compared to the 13,061 units it exported in the same period last year.

The growth in the motorcycle segment stood at 42% this July, with 61,051 units sold, in comparison with 42,998 in the same month of the previous year. It may be noted here that the company is facing a stiff competition for the third slot in the Indian two-wheeler market by HMSI.

The wholly owned subsidiary of Honda Motor Corporation has grabbed a very high market share in the Indian scooters segment. Scooter sales grew 46% with 40,357 units sold in July 2010, versus 27,673 in the previous July for TVS Motors in the last month.
