British Gas to install car chargers for employees with e-cars

British Gas has said that it is offering to install fast charge points at the homes of its employees, who own electric vehicles.

The company has entered into a deal with Hitachi Capital Vehicle Solutions, to allow the users to charge their cars three times faster than other chargers. The Hitachi Capital's customer lease contracts will account for the cost of the charging point, including installation. British Gas will also provide maintenance of the points.

British Gas is aiming to become a big player in the electric car infrastructure market and has already tied with Nissan and Renault to supply charge points for both companies' electric car models.

The company is aiming to capture about 70 per cent share of charge points for the electric vehicle market in the UK by the next year.
